For my Magic Rites and Rituals project I chose to base my project on the illusion of patterns and 60's Fashion.
Illusions
This moving eye optical illusion was titled the ' Fantastic image' and was created by Akiyoshi Kitaoka.
The colours, shape and pattern create some sort of movement when the eye focuses on it.
' Optical illusions (sometimes called also visual illusions) are images perceived in a manner that differs from objective reality. What the human eye sees is interpreted by the brain in a way that contradicts physical measurement of the source image.'
The optical illusion painting above was made by ' Octavo Ocampo ' and was titles ' Forever always '. The painting depicts the profiles of an old couple, who are remembering the times when they were young and full of life. I find it fascinating how he was able to create the details of the face using another image making you see two things at once and makes a person decide on what to focus on.
Retro 60's
The main colours to use in our project was black and white so I decided to choose the theme of Retro 60's for my project because monochrome patterns in fashion were very popular back then.
Twiggy was a very popular British model back in the 60's
Above is an example of a black and white patterned garment.
